Preliminary design of 370 buildings for the new Z-Fod district in Al Zubair, Iraq.
The architectural design strategy envisaged underground structures, in order to hide them from view from above: the careful use of terraces at different levels allows for a lower impact on the surrounding environment. Underground buildings can also provide better protection from solar radiation and sandstorms. Particular attention was given to the roof structures, natural ventilation and the incidence of light in the room.
