The project involves the treatment of some materials containing asbestos and synthetic glass fiber present in the insulation of the hydraulic pipes, tanks and boilers located on the first and second basement floors of the building located in Piazza Cavour, 1/3 in Milan.
The planned works concern the removal of insulating coverings containing asbestos, the removal of dangerous toxic substances present in the hydraulic seals of thermal power plants of the hydraulic seals of thermal power plants.
The following substances were treated:
• Brittle asbestos consisting of a cementitious coating containing asbestos to protect the wool thermal insulation;
Sludge treatment to protect the insulation of pipes. The treatment was carried out in a type A confined chamber which provides static and dynamic confinement;
• Pressurized asbestos composed mainly of hydraulic seals in the boiler room. The seals were replaced with the use of bags and gloves as well as a suction system to prevent contamination.
• Synthetic glass fiber (classified as carcinogenic) used for the thermal insulation of pipes, tanks and boilers.
The treatment was carried out in a type B room which provides exclusively for fixed confinement.
